Welcome

Welcome to the Birmingham Territory Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, a group of patriotic, caring women in the greater Birmingham, Alabama area dedicated to activities that promote our country’s history and heritage. We are a nonpartisan group of women who have traced their lineage to men and women patriots who served in or provided aid to the Revolutionary War. Chapter members support the three objectives of the National Society DAR: historic preservation, promotion of education and patriotic endeavor. The more than 80 chapter members include juniors (ages 18 to 35), mothers, daughters, sisters and friends who span the generations. The group meets for lunch on the second Tuesday of the month from September through May for project updates and interesting programs featuring history, education, conservation, national defense and women’s issues. We welcome new members and provide help to those interested in tracing their descent from patriots of the American Revolution.

OCTOBER 11 2022

Birmingham Territory Chapter DAR recognized “breast cancer awareness month” at its October 11 meeting for its October women's issues minute by having individual bags containing items related to breast cancer awareness for each member attending. Coincidentally, October 11 is the anniversary of the founding of NSDAR and its National Service Day. The Chapter stuffed over 65 treat bags for the Ronald McDonald House at Children's Hospital as a service project. Each bag also contained an encouraging note or silly kid-friendly riddle on a neon colored 3 x 5 index card decorated with puffy stickers.

Our program was the Homewood K9 dogs, Vulcan and Shadow, with their handlers, Officers Scruggs and Kidd. Great day all around and we appreciate the officers time and the demonstration of the dogs.










SEPTMBER 2022


Thank you to Magnolia Elementary School and Librarian, Rebecca Bishop for allowing Birmingham Territory Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution to set up a display for “Constitution Week.” These children were very excited to view the display and have their picture made. Proclamations displayed are from Cities of Trussville and Homewood.

Birmingham Territory Chapter Tea
in honor of State Regent Patrice Donnelly

    In August, the Birmingham Territory Chapter held a tea in honor of Patrice Donnelly, our new State Regent of the Alabama Society Daughters of the American Revolution.   The tea was held at the American Village in Montevallo, Alabama.  Many thanks to Chapter Regent, Edwina Williams, and 1st Vice Regent, Renee Shelfer, for organizing this lovely event!

Congratulations to Patrice Donnelly!

 



        Congratulations to Birmingham Territory Chapter's own Patrice R. Donnelly, who is the new State Regent for the Alabama State Society, Daughters of the American Revolution.

        Patrice has chosen "Find your Wings" as her administration's slogan and the butterfly as the symbol.

        Thank you, Patrice, for your many years of service to our chapter and we look forward to watching you "find your wings" and soaring to great heights!
