What a way to start off the New Year
with our amazing January speaker! Ruth Cook is the author of "Guests
Behind the Barbed Wire, German POW's in America: A True Story of Hope and
Friendship." 6,000 German POW's were housed in Aliceville, Alabama during
WW II. From 1942-1945, Camp Aliceville operated as one of the largest POW camps
in America. This story showed the relationship between the prisoners and the
communities around the camp. Ms.Cook has written several books on Alabama and had them for
sale at the meeting.
